The night was titled “One of the Boys” and the music industry boys and girls certainly lived up to the hype of looking after their own. They were all there to support Mick Cocks of Rose Tattoo who is suffering from liver cancer.

The night, hosted by Glenn A Baker, started early by music industry standards but the Enmore Theatre was already packed with a crowd ready to rock the night away and part with their cash for items bought, raffled and auctioned for Mick’s benefit. Memorabilia included everything from signed posters, an axe signed by Chopper Read, to a signed guitar by all of the performers which was auctioned off for $6500-.

Dave Tice and Mark Evans kicked off the night, which was backed by the Super House Band. Everything was kept to a fast pace with gear changes and auctions flowing smoothly.

The female contingent included powerful vocal performances by Annaliese Morrow from The Numbers, Deb Demarchi and a very sassy Shauna Jensen.

The night also included performances by Chris Turner, Mark Gable from The Choirboys and a sing along session with Jimmy Barnes who was joined by Phil Small and Ian Moss. The crowd relished seeing so many legends on stage in the one night. Even Mick Cocks stood at the back of the stage observing all the action.

From the band perspective, The Radiators, The Screaming Jets and You Am I all played small but impressive sets as well as paying tribute to Mick Cocks.

The night concluded with the bad boys of rock, Rose Tattoo, playing all their hits and the guest of honour, Mick Cocks, joining them to play his own composition which was the title of the night “One of the Boys”. Mick also played another song before leaving the stage. The love and respect his bandmates have for him was obvious in their eyes and an emotional Angry whispered words of encouragement to his ailing bandmate who looked quite dashing in a suit jacket and jeans and appeared to be in good spirits despite his personal pain.

All in all, the night was an outstanding success, bringing back plenty of memories and hopefully raising enough funds to help Mick conquer his illness.
